New England Home Connecticut, July 2024
In the July 2024 issue of New England Home Connecticut, interior designer Georgia Zikas is recognized for her contribution to the annual Design on a Dime fundraiser supporting Housing Works.
For the event, Georgia created the Olive Branch Room, a serene, biophilic-inspired space designed around the universal need for peace and tranquility. A diptych painting by Connecticut artist Kate Tortland served as the focal point, establishing an artistic and calming foundation for the vignette.
To honor local craftsmanship, Georgia incorporated pieces from regional makers, including a custom console by IKAG and sconces by Dunes and Duchess. Additional furnishings and décor from Dovetail, Villa & House, Visual Comfort & Co./Light New England, OKA, Four Hands, Schuyler Samperton Textiles, Samuel & Sons, Elizabeth Eakins, and Sagebrook Home completed the space.
During the three-day event at New York City’s Metropolitan Pavilion, all donated furnishings and accessories were sold to help raise an impressive $1.2 million for Housing Works' mission to provide housing and healthcare for people living with HIV/AIDS.
Georgia, a graduate of the New York School of Interior Design, leads Georgia Zikas Design with studios in West Hartford and Boston.
