In this feature for NEXT CT Magazine, Georgia Zikas shares her approach to designing children’s bedrooms that feel imaginative, functional, and timeless. The project included two highly personalized spaces: a solar-system-inspired bunk room for young brothers and a soft pink retreat designed for their older sister.

Georgia focused on creating rooms that captured each child’s personality while avoiding designs that would feel overly juvenile over time. The boys’ room features a rich blue wallpaper with celestial detailing, layered bedding, playful accessories, and custom built-in bunk beds that create both functionality and visual impact.

For the sister’s room, Georgia incorporated soft pink tones, elegant furnishings, and delicate patterns to create a sophisticated yet youthful atmosphere. Thoughtful details like scalloped wallpaper, layered textures, and custom furnishings help the space feel elevated while still playful and inviting.

Throughout the feature, Georgia emphasizes the importance of designing children’s spaces that can age gracefully with the family. By balancing creativity with timeless design principles, the rooms feel fresh, personal, and built to evolve over the years.
